We want to support our customers during the conversion – doing everything possible to make sure they continue to have seamless reimbursement after the mandate deadline.
Availity is fully prepared to meet the Oct. 1, 2014 deadline for ICD-10, a federal mandate that requires all providers and HIPAA-covered entities use an updated code set to bill for health care services. We recognize that there is significant risk for disruption in reimbursement and cash flow for providers if they and other HIPAA-covered entities are not prepared. So we’re doing our part to ensure our collective readiness, offering training, testing, tools and other valuable resources to support customer needs.
Availity completed necessary system upgrades more than a year in advance of the federal government deadline so its full product suite, which includes the Availity Web Portal, Revenue Cycle Management and the Advanced Clearinghouse, would be capable of processing customer claims without disruption. In addition, customer testing of ICD-10 claims began in October. Availity recommends early testing – an important component of provider preparedness.
Availity formed an ICD-10 leadership team nearly a year ago, and has actively participated in industry workgroups and initiatives to pass on that expertise. The health information network has also partnered with Complete Practice Resources to offer Ready10, an affordable implementation and project management system.
In addition, customers and non-customers alike get the benefit of best-in-class ICD-10 training and education from industry experts through the Availity Learning Center. The training site for Availity has hosted more than a dozen ICD-10 webinars, including specialty-specific sessions on coding and others related to preparing with Availity. Many live and recorded sessions are eligible for AAPC continuing education credits.
