Availity Appoints Michael Gaven as Chief Growth Officer

Seasoned technology executive brings track record of growth, customer success, and operational excellence to expand Availity’s market leadership

Jacksonville, FL — May 20, 2025 — Availity, the nation’s largest real-time health information network, announced today the appointment of Michael Gaven as the company’s new Chief Growth Officer.

With more than three decades of experience leading customer-focused, growth-oriented teams at some of the world’s most prominent technology companies—including Salesforce and Oracle—Gaven joins Availity at a pivotal time for the company and the healthcare industry.

In his new role, Gaven will lead Availity’s growth strategy across sales, marketing, and client experience functions, with a focus on unlocking greater value for customers, expanding platform adoption, and accelerating the company’s position as a category leader in intelligent healthcare information exchange.

“Michael’s experience in scaling enterprise healthcare and technology businesses aligns perfectly with Availity’s mission to simplify healthcare through better data and collaboration,” said Russ Thomas, CEO of Availity. “He brings an operator’s mindset, a customer-first philosophy, and the ability to connect cross-functional teams around a shared vision of growth. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the leadership team.”

Gaven most recently served as Senior Vice President of Healthcare at Salesforce, where he was responsible for the company’s payer and provider go-to-market strategy. Under his leadership, Salesforce’s healthcare segment consistently delivered double-digit growth, significantly improved customer retention, and built a destination organization known for operational excellence. Prior to Salesforce, he held senior leadership roles at Oracle, where he led cloud solution teams across retail and service industries.

“What attracted me to Availity was its unique market position, its mission-first culture, and its potential to drive transformative change in healthcare,” said Gaven. “This is not just a company selling point solutions—it’s a platform organization that’s solving big problems across the payer-provider ecosystem. I’m excited to work with this talented team to elevate customer success, drive long-term value, and help lead the next phase of growth.”

Throughout his career, Gaven has been a champion of collaboration, operational rigor, and mentorship. He emphasizes creating customer experiences that lead to sustained partnerships and advocates for high-performing, cross-functional teams that align around value delivery and strategic outcomes.

Gaven holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing Management from Pace University. He lives in New Jersey with his wife and has three grown children. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, fishing, and spending time outdoors.
