Katie G.

Technical Account Manager

In celebration of Availity’s 25th anniversary, we’re highlighting associates whose impact and dedication have helped shape who we are today. Through this special Associate Spotlight series, we’re honoring the people behind our story—past, present, and future.

In this Q&A, we’re proud to spotlight Katie G., who shares reflections on her journey, the moments that mattered most, and what continues to inspire her as part of Availity.

When you think about our Core Values, which one resonates most with you, and why?

Do the Right Thing resonates with me most because it encourages every associate to take ownership when they identify an issue rather than overlooking something that could grow into a larger concern. In healthcare, those small moments of accountability matter because they ultimately help protect the patient’s experience and support better outcomes.

Looking back, what advice would you give your first-day self?

Be ready for constant change and continuous learning! You will take on things you never imagined and be trusted to support some of the largest clients in the healthcare industry. You can absolutely do it, but do not forget to ask questions, stay curious, and lean on others when you need help. You can trust your leaders and teammates to guide you along the way.

What’s kept you here the longest?

The culture has kept me here the longest. Over the past five years, my teammates have become true friends. From traveling to work events to showing up for personal milestones like my baby shower, they have supported me through so many seasons of life. They also supported my career transition from sales into a more technical role, which meant they saw me not just for what I was good at, but for what I truly wanted to focus on and become. I know I can lean on them, trust their guidance, and believe they genuinely have my best interests at heart.

Looking back on your time at Availity, what accomplishment or contribution are you most proud of?

I am most proud to help build the foundation for the Trading Partner team structure we have today. When I started at Availity, a small group of us wore many hats to support our customers, and much of our knowledge lived with just a few people. Over time, we turned that shared experience into formal documentation, processes, and resources across tools like Salesforce, OneNote, and shared drives. That foundation has helped the team evolve into multiple roles. This is the type of foundational work that will support Availity as we grow!

What are three words you’d use to describe Availity today?

Connected, Purposeful, and Trusted

What excites you most about where Availity is headed next?

Availity has spent the past 25 years building one of the largest and most deeply integrated payer and provider networks in healthcare. What excites me most is how we can use that position to create greater transparency across the marketplace. Availity sits at the center of valuable information, and our current solutions are just the beginning of what is possible.

What’s one way your team quietly helps simplify healthcare that most people outside Availity would never notice?

We help providers stay connected by meeting them where they are, which sometimes means supporting their transactions through another healthcare organization. My team helps partners outside the traditional provider and payer space connect to Availity’s expansive payer network. Behind the scenes, many transactions that support the healthcare experience, like eligibility inquiries, flow through our network. By managing those contracts and relationships, we help ensure healthcare organizations have access to the data they need to create a smoother, more connected patient experience.

What’s a moment when you realized the work we do matters beyond our walls?

I’m reminded that the work we do matters beyond our walls almost every time I check in for a doctor’s appointment. When the front desk worker notices my Availity ID card, they often mention that they use our tools daily. Those moments are a great reminder that what we do reaches far beyond our office and plays a role in supporting patient care every day, even for my own family.

What’s an unexpected skill you’ve developed during your time at Availity?

AI and Copilot have been unexpected skills I’ve developed during my time at Availity. The company has provided resources and training that helped me become comfortable using tools I may not have trusted or explored on my own. I’ve learned how to use AI for data analysis, create agents to help me think through ideas, and even challenge outputs to get better results. This is an invaluable skill that helps both at home and work!

If you could preserve one thing about Availity for the next generation of associates, what would it be?

The partnership culture. I believe our customers can feel Availity’s culture, too. They hug us, laugh with us, ask about our families, and work alongside us to solve some of healthcare’s biggest challenges. I would preserve that sense of partnership—the reminder that our customers and colleagues are all on the same team.

Thank you, Katie, for your dedication and the impact you’ve had in shaping Availity’s story. We’re grateful for all you do as we celebrate 25 years of Availity!
