In this Q&A, we’re proud to spotlight Christina L., who shares reflections on her journey, the moments that mattered most, and what continues to inspire her as part of Availity.
What are you most proud of from your time at Availity?
I am especially proud of my role in advancing product expertise at Availity. Since I first joined, the standards have significantly improved—an essential step to drive us forward.
What’s kept you here the longest?
The company’s evolution each year is what has kept me here the longest. Looking back over the past four years, I can identify clear moments of progress—whether in collaboration, talent, finance, or influence within the industry. Availity is not willing to stand still.
How has your job changed since you started?
Throughout our journey, I’ve reported to several product leaders at various stages while keeping my domain expertise intact. As expectations have grown, my responsibilities have shifted, and I continue to adapt alongside the company.
When you think about our Core Values, which one resonates the most with you and which do you think will propel us through the next 25 years?
- I connect with “Explore Fearlessly” because healthcare evolves quickly, curiosity drives progress, and challenging norms prevents stagnation.
- “Own the Outcome” will drive our success over the next 25 years; taking initiative ensures we remain competitive, and collaborative teamwork supports our mission while maximizing our positive influence on the industry.
What are three words you’d use to describe Availity today?
- Ambitious – Availity pursues meaningful growth with intention and sets bold goals with a bullish mindset.
- Optimistic – Availity treats challenges as catalysts, not setbacks, by searching for the silver linings and using adversity as fuel for learning, innovation, and momentum.
- Authentic – Availity operates with openness and sincerity. It fosters a friendly, transparent environment where associates feel valued and the market experiences clear, trustworthy relationships.
What do you appreciate most about your team right now?
The team is highly motivated and committed to our mission and product strategy. Every day, they show up ready to contribute and are always looking for ways to solve problems. This proactive attitude spreads throughout the group, and I truly value their efforts. For instance, our successful move to the cloud was made possible by everyone working together to balance the project with customer needs. Their dedication not only achieves great outcomes but also inspires others.
What’s one “tiny way” your team removes friction from healthcare that most people never see?
My team’s main goal is to reduce claim denials. They handle the complex work behind the scenes, ensuring providers get clear, useful feedback, and health plans are able to make payments faster.
What’s a time Availity’s reliability or recovery made a difference (for a provider, plan, or patient experience)?
Teams respond quickly to challenges each week, creating micro-moments that often go unnoticed—a sign of their effectiveness. Still, it’s important to acknowledge Availity’s contribution in helping the industry recover from the Change Healthcare security incident, which truly distinguished us.
If you wrote “Dear Availity, 2050”, what would you tell future colleagues to protect—or to boldly change?
Dear Availity, 2050, If what you see today resembles 2025, something has gone awry.
What is your favorite Availity tradition or event?
Connects is the event I enjoy most at Availity. It’s a great chance to interact with our customers, strengthen relationships, discover new opportunities, and highlight Availity’s influence in the industry.
What are you excited about in the next year and over the next 25 years?
I’m really excited about how quickly technology is moving forward. With our mindset of pushing the boundaries, I believe we can keep building momentum and achieve great things together in the next 25 years.
