In celebration of Availity’s 25th anniversary, we’re highlighting associates whose impact and dedication have helped shape who we are today. Through this special Associate Spotlight series, we’re honoring the people behind our story—past, present, and future.
In this Q&A, we’re proud to spotlight Angie W., who shares reflections on her journey, the moments that mattered most, and what continues to inspire her as part of Availity.
When did you join Availity, what was your first role, and what stands out most from your early days?
I joined Availity 10 years ago in Accounts Payable. What I remember most about those early days was learning so much from my teammates and building relationships that still exist today. The company was growing, and it was exciting to be a part of that journey.
What’s kept you here the longest?
The people and culture. I’ve built meaningful relationships, taken on new challenges, and I’m proud to contribute to a company that’s making Healthcare simpler and more connected.
Looking back on your time at Availity, what accomplishment or contribution are you most proud of?
I am most proud of my involvement in the Big Brother Big Sister Beyond School Walls program. Having the opportunity to mentor and positively impact a student’s life while representing Availity’s commitment to the community has been rewarding. It’s amazing when you see your mentee looking around the room for and when they see you, they instantly start smiling and greet you with a hug.
What excites you most about where Availity is headed next?
Availity’s continued focus on innovation and simplifying healthcare, developing solutions that streamline processes and create better experiences for providers, payers, and patients.
When you think about our Core Values, which one resonates most with you, and why?
Own the Outcome. It resonates most with me because I believe in taking responsibility, following through on commitments, and finding solutions. In my role, being dependable and proactive helps ensure our vendors and teammates have positive experiences and gives me a sense of pride in the work I do daily.
What are three words you’d use to describe Availity today?
Innovative – Collaborative – Purpose-driven
What’s one way your team quietly helps simplify healthcare that most people outside Availity would never notice?
My team plays an important behind-the-scenes role by ensuring vendors are properly onboarded, invoices are processed accurately and timely, and financial operations run smoothly. While this work isn’t highly visible, it helps maintain the relationships, services, and systems that support Availity’s mission.
What makes the people at Availity unique?
The people at Availity are what make the Company special. In my 10 years, I’ve been fortunate to work with talented teammates who genuinely care about each other, and the impact we make together is indescribable.
What do you appreciate most about your team right now?
What I appreciate most about my team is the collaboration and support we have for one another. Everyone is willing to help, share knowledge, and work together to achieve our goals. It creates a positive environment where people feel valued and empowered to do their best work.
What’s your favorite Availity tradition, event, or memory?
I have a few, but I will narrow it down. One of my favorite memories goes all the way back to when I first joined Availity. At the time, Availity had AvailiTV, where company news, announcements, and even new hire information were displayed on the TV screens throughout the company.
Another memory that I always share happened during my first week at Availity. My department was taking me to lunch when the evaluator arrived on our floor; Russ was standing there. He greeted everyone. He said, “Guys, where are you all headed to?” Our CFO at the time stated we’re taking the new hire to lunch; want to join? Russ said he would love to if he didn’t already have a prior engagement. It may seem small to some, but that left a lasting impression on me.
In previous companies, the CEO often was inaccessible. At Availity, here was the CEO taking time to engage in conversation with a new employee. That interaction showed me what makes Availity special; regardless of title or position, people are approachable, welcoming, and genuinely interested in one another. Ten years later, that sense of connection and culture is still one of the things I value most about working here.
Thank you, Angie, for your dedication and the impact you’ve had in shaping Availity’s story. We’re grateful for all you do as we celebrate 25 years of Availity!
