Russ Thomas - Availity Chief Executive Officer

Russ Thomas

Chief Executive Officer

Russ Thomas is the Chief Executive Officer of Availity. His vision helped to diversify Availity’s solutions and grow its customer base, creating the foundation for the expansive Availity network that exists today. Combined, the enterprise now delivers healthcare business solutions to a growing network that connects more than 1,000,000 physicians and allied care providers, 2,700 hospitals, and more than 600 technology partners with health plans nationwide. Under Thomas’s leadership, Availity is leading the charge in provider engagement and empowering health care professionals to improve results.

Before joining Availity, Thomas was CEO of Gold Standard, a drug information database and clinical knowledge solution. Thomas grew the company from a small start-up to a multi-sector leader in the healthcare market before selling the business to Reed Elsevier in 2006. He remained with Reed Elsevier as a senior executive in their clinical information business until 2008.

Thomas is active in many industry and philanthropic organizations. He serves on the Board of Directors for eHealth Initiative, a Washington, D.C. based non-profit organization that seeks to drive improvements in the quality, safety, and efficiency of healthcare through information technology. In 2015, he served as Chair of the United Way Northeast Florida Annual Campaign. Through the United Way, Availity developed a partnership with Ribault Middle School in the “Achievers for Life” dropout prevention program. He is a member of the Board of Trustees for Jacksonville University. A licensed commercial pilot, Thomas was appointed to the Jacksonville Aviation Authority board of directors in 2015.

Thomas earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Virginia Tech and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia. He lives in Ponte Vedra, Florida with his wife Claudia and their two children. He is an avid cyclist.

Melissa Boyle

Melissa Boyle

Vice President of Digital – Cloud Migration
Melissa Boyle is Vice President of Digital – Cloud Migration, bringing 20 years of experience to lead Availity’s digital & cloud strategy.

Joining Availity in 2018 to lead a product engineering transformation, her role has since expanded to overseeing Availity’s digital & cloud Strategy where she is responsible for bringing Availity to the cloud and reimagining how we build products, while continuing to understand how best to adopt digital technology capabilities from healthcare and other industries

Melissa offers extensive leadership experience with complex global initiatives and enterprise transformations in large corporations and hyper-growth start-ups. Before coming to Availity, Melissa was the IT Effectiveness Leader at Cotiviti, where she helped define and execute Cotiviti’s Agile & DevOps strategy and focused on transforming the IT organization. She also led the Enterprise Architecture and Engineering teams.

Melissa received her bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Math from King’s College. She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband Bill and dog Paisley. She is an avid open water swimmer and loves to travel.
Jeff Chester - Availity Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer

Jeff Chester

Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer

Jeff Chester is Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer for Availity and has responsibility for leadership and direction of the Availity sales organization.

Prior to joining Availity in 2010, Jeff served as Vice President and General Manager of Sales for GE Healthcare IT Clinical Business Solutions, a $1.4 billion division of General Electric.

Jeff began his healthcare career in 1993 with WebMD, where he was part of the original management team that merged WebMD with Healtheon, ENVOY and Medical Manager. He went on to serve as Vice President of Business Development at Next Ventures LLC, a venture capital accelerator for upstart health care technology companies.

Additionally, he has served as Vice President of Strategic Account Development for Groupcast, a division of IDX Systems Corporation. In 2002, Jeff joined IDX Systems Corporation as the Regional Sales Director for IDX Groupcast and was promoted to Groupcast’s Vice President of Strategic Account Development in 2005. He was then assigned to lead the IDX/GE integration for sales, which led to his role as a Vice President and General Manager of Sales at GE Healthcare IT Clinical Business Solutions.

Jeff earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Florida State University.

Damien Creavin

Chief Technology Officer

Damien Creavin is Chief Technology Officer for Availity, overseeing technology strategy and operations, platform development, and information security.

Damien joined Availity in 2018 and brings more than 20 years of diverse IT leadership experience in healthcare, media, and electronics. Most recently as Senior Vice President, CIO, and CTO of healthcare analytics company Cotiviti, Damien was responsible for IT strategy, architecture, technology operations, and product engineering, and was a key part of the leadership team that successfully executed Cotiviti’s 2016 IPO.

His career has also included the role of Senior Vice President, CIO, and CTO of the healthcare company Emdeon (now Change Healthcare), where he focused on technology strategy, enterprise transaction processing platforms, and business management platforms.

As Senior Vice President and CIO of the media company Primedia, Damien led the integration of traditional and digital content and the development of search and e-commerce solutions. During his time as CTO of Time Inc., a division of Time Warner, one of the world’s largest media companies, Damien drove the adoption of internet content creation and delivery, digital asset management, and e-commerce.

Damien holds an MBA in General Management from the NYU Stern School of Business, and Bachelor’s degrees in Systems Engineering and Mathematics from Trinity College Dublin. He enjoys literature, theater, and music, as well as riding his Pinarello Dogma F10, and will be relocating to Jacksonville with his wife Susan and their two children.

Greg Dumont

Vice President of Infrastructure and Technology Operations

Greg Dumont is Vice President of Infrastructure and Technology Operations, bringing over 20 years of experience to lead Availity’s infrastructure and technology operations Cloud strategy.

Before joining Availity in 2019, Greg was Vice President, Technology with Nielsen, where he helped define and execute Nielsen’s Cloud strategy, moving significant workloads to Amazon Web Services and Azure while creating standards and driving transformation through automation. Greg led the Cloud Center of Excellence for all of Nielsen, helped define and create their Cloud Operations organization, and led Cloud due diligence for new acquisitions. Greg brings a strong focus on cost leadership and operational excellence, but his real passion is people. He has played a significant role in Nielsen’s Emerging Leaders and Emerging Technologists Program managing and mentoring numerous early-career associates.

Greg began his technology career during the early Internet boom, honing his skills at GE Medical and Franklin Templeton helping to design, develop, and support their Internet/Intranet objectives. While his roles have always been technical, Greg excels in bridging the gap between business and technology, distilling complex technical topics for a business audience while providing business context to development teams.

Originally from Toronto, Canada, Greg now lives in Palm Harbor, Florida, with his wife and three children.

Nate Eastman

Chief Financial Officer

Nate Eastman is Chief Financial Officer (CFO) managing all aspects of the company’s finance and accounting operations.

Eastman joined Availity in 2014 and brings more than 16 years of financial leadership, and has a history of excellence as a strategic business partner in high growth, complex business environments.

Prior to joining Availity, Eastman was CFO of Maryland-based healthcare analytics firm Inovalon, where he was central to strategic planning and decision making in the financial, treasury, and banking functions, in addition to providing executive leadership for budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and tax matters. Prior to that, he led the client audit function at Express Scripts and served as a director in the mergers and acquisitions practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Eastman, a Certified Public Accountant, earned a Master of Business Administration in finance and marketing from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, after having completed his undergraduate degree in accounting at St. Norbert College.

Terry Goertz Chief of Staff

Terry Goertz

Chief of Staff

Terry Goertz serves as Chief of Staff to the CEO, where he is responsible for leading Availity’s strategic planning process from enterprise-level product strategy, discipline and roadmap alignment to M&A administration. Terry also manages Availity’s corporate operational cadence, Board preparation and alignment, and leads special projects as needed.

Before joining Availity, Terry held leadership roles as Director Provider Innovation, Director of Enterprise Architecture, Vice President of Software Development and Chief Executive Officer at companies ranging from startup to Fortune 100.

As an entrepreneur, Terry brought cutting edge consumer software and market analytics products to market. While at ParkVu, Terry secured over $2 million in private and venture capital investment, built strong relationships with industry leaders (LiveNation, Billboard, WEA, Nokia, BlackBerry) and appeared in several publications (The Wall Street Journal, Wired, Gizmodo).

Terry has an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from Western Kentucky University where he attended on an athletic scholarship. He has been named one of Louisville’s 40 under 40 and 20 People to Know in Technology, is an active member of Louisville’s startup community as a mentor and previously served on the Greater Louisville Inc. advisory board.

Chris Harber - Vice President of Health Plant Operations

Chris Harber

Vice President of Health Plan Operations 

Chris Harber is the Vice President of Health Plan Operations at Availity, where he oversees the risk and quality product portfolio, clinical strategy, and daily operations for the health plan line of business.

Before joining Availity, Chris was COO at TriZetto Provider Solutions, responsible for payer and provider account management, business intelligence, sales operations, technical support, enrollment, and channel partner management. Chris was part of the executive team that was instrumental in Cognizant’s acquisition of TriZetto. He brings a diverse background to the senior leadership team with areas of expertise in operational execution, strategic planning, information technology, and revenue cycle management.

Previously, Chris was a consultant at FTI Consulting’s Corporate Finance and Technology practices where he advised companies on complex restructurings, transaction advisory, and data analytics.

Chris received his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Kansas.

Scott Herbst - Availity Senior Vice President and General Manager of Provider Solutions

Scott Herbst

Senior Vice President and General Manager of Provider Solutions

Scott Herbst is Senior Vice President and General Manager of Provider Solutions, leading Availity’s provider services groups and the partnership/vendor programs. Additionally, he was responsible for leading much of the integration between RealMed and Availity.

Scott joined RealMed in 1999 and held various leadership roles at RealMed, including General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Sales and Support.

Prior to joining RealMed, Scott was employed by The CIT Group Inc. and its predecessor, Newcourt Credit Group Inc. as the Chief Counsel of the Specialty Finance and Strategic Development units. While at Newcourt, he had the primary responsibility of drafting and negotiating the company’s major vendor partnership agreements with the company’s largest customers. He also was responsible for developing Newcourt’s programs related to financing of software, insurance compliance, and corporate governance and licensing activities.

Scott also has been an attorney practicing in the merger and acquisition area with Indianapolis-based Sommer & Barnard PC, and Lord Bissell and Brook in Chicago.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Indiana University, and his Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law, where he was a member of the Indiana University Law Journal.

Justin Hesterlee 2019

Justin Hesterlee

Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis

Justin Hesterlee is Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis for Availity, where he manages the company’s financial strategy, including financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and decision support analysis.

Justin joined Availity in 2015 after serving as Senior Director of Strategic Planning and Capital for Southeastern Grocers. In this role, he was responsible for managing the corporate strategic planning process and overseeing execution activities, which involved several merger and acquisitions, as well as a large rebranding initiative. He also served as the company’s Director of Financial Planning and Analysis for Merchandising & Marketing.

Prior to Southeastern Grocers, Justin began his career in the business operations division of AB InBev (previously Anheuser-Busch). During his eight-year tenure, he assumed roles with increasing responsibility up through his last position as senior plant controller of their Jacksonville, FL brewery.

Justin received his bachelor’s degree in finance from Indiana University and an M.B.A. from the University of Florida. He lives in Jacksonville and participates in several charities, including HabiJax, a local chapter of Habitat for Humanity; Big Brothers Big Sisters, where he serves as a volunteer mentor; and Life Rolls On, which hosts surf and skate events for wheelchair athletes.

Catherine Hora Anderson

Catherine Hora Anderson

SVP Legal & Regulatory Affairs

Catherine Hora Anderson is Senior Vice President, Legal & Regulatory Affairs & General Counsel where she leads Availity’s compliance, audit, and legal teams.

Catherine brings more than 15 years of legal and business experience to Availity’s Senior Leadership Team. She spent 8 years as a Senior Associate at Alston & Bird LLP in Atlanta, Georgia before joining McKesson Technologies as Chief Counsel in 2010. Catherine held a number of leadership positions while at McKesson and served as Vice President & Chief Compliance Officer, Physician Practice Solutions from 2011-2013. 

In 2014, Catherine moved to McKesson’s Medical-Surgical division where she served as VP, Compliance until 2017. She then operated as VP, Compliance & Regulatory Affairs for McKesson Pharmacy Technology & Services for nearly two years before joining Availity in late 2018. 

Catherine earned her Bachelor of Arts from University of Michigan and her JD from Vanderbilt University Law School. 

Jack Hunt - Availity Vice President of Gateway Platform

Jack Hunt

Vice President of Health Plan Platform and Network

Jack Hunt is Vice President of Health Plan Platform and Network where he is responsible for managing Availity's healthcare content network and distribution platform. This includes responsibility for network profit and loss, partner management, product management, and platform development.

Prior to joining Availity in 2011, Jack owned and operated J. Hunt & Associates, a niche information technology professional services firm, serving both healthcare and financial services customers.

Before starting J. Hunt & Associates in 2004, he managed infrastructure and software development for Schwab SoundView Capital Markets. He was the Chief Technology Officer at SoundView Technology Group prior to its acquisition by Charles Schwab & Co. In addition, Jack has held technology management positions supporting the capital markets divisions at Merrill Lynch and SG Cowen.

Jack is an avid community volunteer and takes a leadership role in Availity’s outreach efforts. He has held various committee leadership positions with the United Way of Northeast Florida and also serves as an Achievers for Life mentor at Ribault Middle School in Jacksonville, Fla.

He is a graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology, where he received a bachelor of engineering degree.

Paul Joiner - Availity Chief Product Officer

Paul Joiner

Executive Vice President and General Manager, Health Plan Business

Paul Joiner is Executive Vice President and General Manager, Health Plan. A member of the executive team, Paul manages all aspects of the health plan line of business P&L, product portfolio, product development, call center operations, and account/alliance management. Paul also served for two years as Availity's Chief Product Officer.

Prior to joining Availity, Paul was responsible for client engagement and business development activities across the customer life cycle as Vice President of Client Engagement with Xerox Midas +. He brings a diverse background and deep market knowledge to the executive leadership team with areas of expertise in healthcare capital finance, market planning, information technology, and revenue cycle management.

Previously, Paul was Vice President of Corporate Development and Health Plan Services for Passport Health Communications, Inc. where he led strategy, mergers and acquisitions, new product initiatives, and payer services during the five-year period where Passport Health saw revenue growth double. Additionally, Paul was Senior Associate with Jefferies & Company, Inc., where he conducted equity research on health care information technology companies. Early in his career, Paul was Vice President of Origination and Senior Underwriting Analyst for Pine Creek Healthcare Capital, LLC. Paul also served as senior project manager for Healthcare Management Directions Inc.

Paul holds a Masters of Accountancy from Belmont University and a Bachelors of Accountancy from the University of Mississippi.

Frank Manzella

Senior Vice President of Corporate Development

Frank Manzella is Availity’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Development. He brings more than 20 years’ experience as a healthcare executive and investor. Frank joined Availity in 2019 to provide critical insights and guidance for potential corporate acquisitions and integrate those businesses and solutions into Availity’s overall growth strategy.

Frank has a distinguished career in business development for healthcare technology, having executed over $20 billion in transactions throughout his career. Before joining Availity, Frank served as Chief Development Officer at Press Ganey Associates and Senior Vice President of Corporate Development for Change Healthcare.

Frank and his wife Carol Ann have three children. He attended Georgetown University, where he earned his Bachelor’s, MBA and JD degrees. He is also the Chairman of the Michael Manzella Foundation, named in honor of his brother who passed away from cancer in 1993. The Foundation has raised and distributed more than $500,000 in grants to young people and organizations aligned with their mission of advancing education, cancer research, children’s causes, and the arts.

Jessica Micciche

Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer

Jessica Micciche is Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, ensuring Availity’s people strategy aligns with its business and growth strategy. She will be responsible for all aspects of human resources, including culture, talent management, leadership, human capital analytics, compensation, and benefits.

Jessica started her career in Sales in the Commercial Real Estate and Telecom Industries. While at Cable & Wireless, she led sales operations for the prepaid phone card division before becoming a quota-carrying Account Representative.

For the past 15 years, Jessica has held HR leadership roles in high-tech and manufacturing companies, including Motorola, Medidata Solutions, and Drive DeVilbiss. At Motorola, Jessica was the HR leader for multiple businesses, including technologies such as RFID, Mobile Computing, Advanced Data Capture, and Wireless LAN. At Medidata Solutions, a rapid growth SaaS business in the clinical trial space, Jessica held HR roles of progressive responsibility including interim CHRO as the company expanded its global footprint, tripled in headcount, and nearly doubled in Revenue.

Jessica has a passion for building high-performing teams and a client-focused culture that enables organizational development, effectiveness, and growth. Jessica earned her bachelor’s degree in management from St. Joseph’s College. Originally from New York, Jessica is now based in Jacksonville, Florida with her family.

Molly Miles - Availity Vice President Marketing

Molly Miles

Vice President, Marketing

Molly Miles is Availity’s Vice President of Marketing where she leads product marketing, brand marketing, corporate communications and sales enablement. Molly has been with Availity since April, 2015.

A seasoned marketing professional with a passion for product and account based marketing, Molly has worked in healthcare since 2000 and in healthcare technology since 2011. Much of her early career was spent as a marketing team leader for McKesson Corporation where she developed relationships with independent pharmacies and helped grow the Health Mart Pharmacy franchise. After ten years with McKesson U.S. Pharma, Molly was promoted to executive director of marketing for McKesson’s Business Performance Services unit in Atlanta, Georgia. She left McKesson in 2013 to join Philips Wellcentive as vice president of marketing.

Molly has volunteered with the United Way and Big Brothers Big Sisters since 2013, and has served as a middle school mentor in northwest Jacksonville, Florida since 2015.

Molly earned her B.A. in English from the University of Missouri-Columbia, has a certification in Voice of the Customer Studies in Business Markets from Penn State Smeal College of Business, and holds Level IV certification with Pragmatic Marketing, Inc.

A native of Ladue, Missouri, Molly now lives in Ponte Vedra, Florida with her husband and children.


Mary Anne Orenchuk - Availity Vice President of Platform Solutions and Health Plan Operations

Mary Anne Orenchuk

Vice President of User Experience & Platform Solutions

Mary Anne Orenchuk is Vice President of User Experience & Platform Solutions, leading a team that includes the provider engagement portal and supporting product solutions and designs. With a focus on user experience, Mary Anne helps health plans and providers collaborate and problem solve in real-time through intelligent workflows and messaging.

She brings to Availity more than 20 years’ experience in information technology, product and operations in both health care and the financial services industries. Mary Anne was a leader of the initial team that launched Availity in 2001 with Florida Blue and Humana. She has been instrumental in growing the product, the operations and client and alliance relationships, including extending Availity’s relationship with Health Care Service Corporation, Anthem Inc, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota.

Prior to joining Availity, she was an Information Technology leader at Florida Blue. She also served in multiple product and technology leadership roles delivering office automation in retail banking at Bank of America. As Vice President in Bank of America’s Information Management division, she led and consulted on organization-wide process engineering improvements and total quality management efforts.

Mary Anne holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Florida.

Chad Pester

Chad Pester

Vice President, Data and Analytics

Chad Pester joined Availity in 2019 as Vice President, Data and Analytics, where he is responsible for shaping data vision and strategy in anticipation of a world where deep learning, machine learning, and AI will emerge as table stakes in healthcare. This includes a product-centric approach to ensure enterprise data and processes are curated and mined to meet the needs of the company’s business lines and stakeholders.

Chad brings two decades of global professional experience from Nielsen, Citi, and General Electric, with startup experience in the late 1990s. His great passion is using advanced technology to ignite opportunities with data and analytics. His leadership model applies emphasis on talent development and multiplication, especially with emerging leaders, early in their careers.

While at Nielsen, Chad led the Buy Analytics Platform department, curating data sets from over 100 countries which powered a multi-tenant solution for insights product delivery. Most recently, he guided the transformation of data-centric products from on-premises to cloud. At Citi he directed the architecture and on-boarding of an internal private cloud. With GE Healthcare, Chad led the middleware department responsible for Enterprise Application Integration and Extract Transform Load—this is where he fell in love with data and the technology capabilities that bring it to life.

In addition to being a data and analytics leader and technologist, Chad enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He is an avid runner, reads as much as possible, and loves trips with his family to locations rich in history and culture.

Justin Threet Availity

Justin Threet

Vice President and Corporate Controller

Justin Threet is Vice President and Corporate Controller at Availity where he manages the company’s accounting processes, tax planning and compliance, technical accounting and financial reporting.

Prior to joining Availity, Justin served in the audit practices of Ernst & Young, LLP and BDO USA, LLP where he assumed roles with increasing responsibility and developed an extensive knowledge and practical application of generally accepted accounting principle and taxation.

Justin is a Certified Public Accountant with both Master of Taxation and Bachelor of Accounting degrees from the University of Florida. He currently resides in Jacksonville Beach with his wife Erica and their two children.

Jason Wallis New

Jason Wallis

Vice President, Payer Solutions

Jason Wallis is Vice President of Payer Solutions for Availity where he is responsible for leading product vision and development strategy for the health plan line of business.

Before joining Availity in 2018, Jason served as Senior Vice President, Data and Network Operations with Experian Health overseeing the organization’s clearinghouse and data strategy. Through technology and process improvements, Jason led initiatives to reduce costs and improve data quality, providing richer, value-added content to clients. Jason also served at a leadership capacity for Experian Health’s Patient Access and Content Network business units, where he provided strategic and technical insight to drive product development and sales.

Jason began his career in software development, which led him to the healthcare IT space and to technology leadership at Passport Health (later acquired by Experian). At Passport Jason led product and technical teams responsible for several product suites and guided the design and architecture of solutions to meet customer’s needs and provide a unique user experience. After the Experian acquisition, Jason led the merging of clearinghouse teams and expanded his role to include product line ownership and strategy as Vice President, Content Network.

Jason earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Austin Peay State University and graduated with honors as a Welch Scholar from Jack Welch Management Institute where he earned a Master of Business Administration. Jason is currently serving as a commissioner for the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC).
