Stuck inside? Catch up on virtual interoperability programming

4.02.2020 By Availity

Although the COVID-19 outbreak forced the cancelation of HIMSS20 this year, some organizations and speakers who planned to present in Orlando have made their sessions available online. On very short notice, these presenters quickly mastered their online technology and presentation skills to deliver the-next-best-thing-to-being-there content.

As you practice your social distancing in the coming weeks, check out some of these valuable online presentations.

The Da Vinci Project

The Da Vinci Project is a private sector initiative comprised of more than 45 industry-leading providers, payers, and technology vendors who are working together to accelerate the adoption of HL7 FHIR as the standard to support and integrate value-based care (VBC) data exchange across communities. For HIMSS20, Da Vinci planned a full slate of sessions to highlight the progress made to leverage emerging standards to reduce provider burden and friction between payers and providers. After HIMSS20 was canceled, the team quickly transitioned to webinars, which are now available to the public.

You can see upcoming webinars and access recorded presentations at Da Vinci 2020 Calendar. Scroll down to the bottom of the page for the HIMSS20 Virtual Events Calendar. You should also check out the Da Vinci Community Roundtable section for a recorded webinar featuring Availity's own Henry Meyne.

Virtual Health Conference

On Monday, March 9, the day HIMSS was scheduled to start, the HHS Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the long-awaited final rules on interoperability and data sharing. Two days later, the Virtual Health Conference took place, giving attendees the opportunity to hear directly from—and ask questions of— Alexandra Mugge, CMS’s Deputy Chief Health Informatics Officer, and Don Rucker, National Coordinator at ONC. The day-long conference also featured other industry experts speaking about interoperability.
