At Availity, compliance is part of our culture. Our comprehensive Ethics and Compliance Program encourages ethical behavior across the company and demonstrates our commitment to compliance with the law.
Our compliance program is consistent with controls set by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC), and the Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST), with modifications to fit our unique environment. Availity’s Senior Vice President of Legal and Regulatory Affairs serves as the company’s Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer and is responsible for program management and oversight.
Key components of our compliance program include:
Code of Conduct and Ethics: Availity’s compliance program includes a Code of Conduct and Ethics. It establishes our expectation that management, employees and contractors always act in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
Ethics and Compliance Program Manual: The purpose of the Program Manual is to define the elements associated with the Availity Ethics and Compliance Program. The practices described in each element are conducted in accordance with the Federal Sentencing Guidelines issued by the United States Sentencing Commission and the Health and Human Services division of the Office of the Inspector General.
Risk Assessment: On an annual basis and as needed, Availity identifies areas of risk to the company. In addition, Availity follows requirements and standards established by CMS, EHNAC and HITRUST for risks associated with our industry, which include, but are not limited to, HIPAA, privacy and security.
