About the card reader
Patient member ID cards or combination debit/member ID cards are swiped through a three track-enabled card reader connected to your computer. The card readers must adhere to the following specifications:
- Capable of reading tracks 1, 2, and 3 on a magnetic stripe.
- Connects to your computer using a Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable. Note that a separate power cord is not needed. The reader receives power from the computer through the USB cable.
- It must be a keyboard emulation device.
Card readers can be purchased at many business retailers or can be found online by searching for "Magnetic Card Reader".
